Prayers for Scottish Referendum

[Update: 7 November 2014 I'll leave this page up -albeit not advertised on the main blogpage- as an historical relic! Perhaps passers-by would spare a quick prayer for Scotland whatever its current situation when you read this...]

In the month leading up to the Independence referendum, we really should be praying above all else.

ACTS (the Ecumenical body of Scottish Churches) has produced a variety of worship and prayer resources here. (I confess that I find them a little verbose but I may be doing them an unjustice from a too hasty reading.)

I couldn't find any specifically Catholic prayers online at the moment. In their absence, I shall be praying daily:

ALMIGHTY and eternal God, to whom we must all give account: guide with thy Spirit the voters in the Scottish Referendum, that we/they may be faithful to the mind of Christ and seek in all our/their purposes to enrich our common life; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. AMEN

(adapted from the Customary of Our Lady of Walsingham, p685.)

[Update 19/8: There is a leaflet here provided by the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh.]

I shall also say a Novena to Our Lady Undoer of Knots (here) as I try to resolve my tangled thoughts on how to vote. Those with other takes on the referendum may be able to find more suitable Novenas here.

I shall also be tweeting regularly short prayers with the hashtag: #pray4indyref.

Any suggestions/additions gratefully received in the comments box.

Our lady of Aberdeen, Our Lady of Good Success, pray for us.
